This program provides a continuum of family-based services to children and adolescents with special needs who have a history of, or are at risk for, institutional placements. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between parent and child. Foster parents are highly trained to meet the emotional and physical needs of each child. Services include:
To ensure a permanent home, whether that means a return to biological parents or other relatives, adoption or, in rare instances, retention in therapeutic foster care due to very unique circumstances.
The program is part of a statewide outcome evaluation project (SUMONE) for children in therapeutic foster homes.
